Oxervate (20mcg/ml)

oxervate-20mcg-ml, OXERVATE is the first FDA-approved treatment for people with neurotrophic keratitis. The main ingredient of OXERVATE is cenegermin, a recombinant form of human nerve growth factor. OXERVATE is structurally identical to the nerve growth factor that is naturally produced by your eyes.

Cenegermin-bkbj is available in the following dosage form(s) and strength(s):

Ophthalmic solution: cenegermin-bkbj 0.002% (20 mcg/mL) in a multiple-dose vial.

Oxervate Dosage and Administration

General

Cenegermin-bkbj ophthalmic solution is supplied in a weekly carton containing 7 multiple-dose vials in an insulated pack in the Delivery System Kit. The Delivery System Kit contains 8 vial adapters, 45 pipettes, 45 sterile disinfectant wipes, and a dose card. The manufacturer’s prescribing information should be consulted for details on proper assembly of the vial and adapter, as well as use of the pipette for administration of the drug.oxervate-20mcg-ml

Contact lenses should be removed before applying cenegermin-bkbj and may be reinserted 15 minutes after administration.

If more than one topical ophthalmic product is being used, administer the eye drops at least 15 minutes apart to avoid diluting products. Administer cenegermin-bkbj 15 minutes prior to using any eye ointment, gel or other viscous eye drops.

Before dispensing to the patient, store the weekly carton in the freezer at or below -20°C. Dispense the weekly carton in the insulated pack in the Delivery System Kit.

Instruct the patient to remove the weekly carton containing 7 multiple-dose vials from the insulated container in the Delivery System Kit within 5 hours of leaving the pharmacy and store the weekly carton in the refrigerator between 2–8°C for up to 14 days.¹ If treatment is started immediately after receiving the weekly carton, wait until the first vial is thawed (this could take up to 30 minutes when kept at room temperature up to 25°C). Do not shake the vial.¹
